If You Could See Me Now by A. Fischer

If you could see me now

After throwing history to hell

What a story my scars could tell

If you could see me now

After unwittingly spending all my eternity

In the absence of your love’s brevity

If you could see me now

And the castles I built to hide within

Too ashamed to live another day in this skin

If you could see me now

Would you be as proud as you always were?

Or would you only see the way my words slur?

If you could see me now

I doubt you would even know the way my stars shone

And how your bitter words cut to my brittle bone

If you could see me now

Would it be over my grave?

Or could you be the one I save?
