If I was a book by S. Bhandari

By S. Bhandari

If I was a book,

Would you ever recognize me?

with pages half burnt and half darkened with dried blood.

If I was a book,

Would you pull me up to your chest?

with my cover dripping the mud, I was just thrown into.

If I was a book,

Would you put me down on your bedside table?

with a cute lamp, that you would flick to lull in sleep.

If I was a book,

Would I be viewed through the lenses of your glasses?

clear and pristine.

If I was a book,

Would you dare to open me?

and read the spellings of my scars,

Would you read the rhyming of my heart,

Would you underline the feelings I hold for you,

and would you please,

keep flipping the pages,

Until you realize that I loved you.
